Music seems to occupy a lot of my time in one way or another…

MY MUSICAL SKILLS

I’ve been playing the guitar for well over ten years now. It provides me with much needed creative distraction away from the rigours of my engineering degree. I currently own a Washburn electric, a Palm Bay electro-acoustic and a Westwood bass. I’m also known to moonlight as a tribal drummer (!) after recently purchasing a djembe from a street market in Amsterdam.

MY BAND

My current band ‘N/A’ has been going (inconsistently) for around two years now. We have a CD on the way (honestly – it will be out soon), and hopefully a few more gigs now our new bass player is up to speed. Please check out the official N/A website here for news of the CD, upcoming gigs, and sound clips (coming soon).

OTHER BANDS

A cross-section of my favourite bands are listed here.

Smashing Pumpkins
Fugazi
Less Than Jake
Sick Of It All
Incubus
Foo Fighters
Black Crowes
Tool
Sugar
Deftones

I think everyone should own at least one album by one of these bands – there‘s something for everybody. Contact me for a specific recommendation if you don’t!

SOUND ENGINEERING

If I don’t make it as an automotive engineer then my back-up plan is to be a sound engineer instead! I spent a fair bit of time in my first two years of Uni learning how to set up PA for live bands and mix the sound. I’m currently teaching myself how to use the equipment in the University’s new recording studio. This consists of a Soundcraft Digital 328 mixer hooked up to a Mac running Pro-tools software. By the time I’ve produced my band’s CD I should be getting pretty good at it all. Visit the studio’s website...

If energetic punk-pop is more your style, visit the home of ‘Don’t Let The Cat Die’ - Lufbra’s bounciest band by far.
